When John Nye needed money, he got on his bike.
The 14-year-old schoolboy from Wallingford cycled from Pangbourne to Lands End to raise money for a trip to Africa.
He and two friends from Pangbourne College covered the 270 miles in just two days, with a stop-over at a youth hostel in Exeter.
They cycled in relay, taking it in turns to ride ten-mile sections of the route, backed up by a support minibus.
John, of Winterbrook, Wallingford, said: "The last ten miles to Lands End were the hardest."
The feat raised £350 in sponsorship towards the £2,750 cost of his school trip to Kenya next summer.
He said: "I think I'll be studying animals on a game reserve, but there are other options, too, like helping street children suffering from Aids, or building schools."
"I'm going to be doing a sponsored car wash next."
