CITY planners say they will look again at ways to slow speeding cars after their traffic calming measures were branded "completely pointless" by protesters.
Dozens of residents are furious that kerbside parking in Crescent Road, Temple Cowley, has been banned and say traffic calming measures just mean traffic can go faster.
Campaign organise Martyn Hobbs told a highways and traffic committee meeting yesterday: "In removing cars parked on both sides of the road, the council has effectively widened the road, creating a freeway for cars to speed in. Crescent Road is now more dangerous than ever."
Committee member Gill Sanders said the traffic calming was "completely ineffective".
And chairman Alex Hollingsworth said the measures would need to be re-examined, and residents' views canvassed.
"I think there are clearly lessons to be learnt," he said.
