The A420 between Oxford and Swindon remains closed following the death of a woman pedestrian near Faringdon in a collision with a lorry.
The busy route is closed between the Fernham Road junction and the A417 Park Road junction, following the crash at 7.20am near the Little Coxwell turn and has traffic has been tailing back in both directions.
Thames Valley Police spokesman David Staines said the A420 was not expected to reopen until about midday.
Any witnesses to the accident have been asked to telephone police on 08458 505505.
