A MAN who slammed an axe into a table at a Bicester pub has been sentenced.

Darren Evans, 33, had drunk “10 to 12 pints” before wielding the weapon at the King’s Arms, in Market Square, on August 24, Oxford Crown Court heard yesterday.

Evans, of Hamilton Close, walked up to a group of drinkers and slammed the axe into their table.

He admitted charges of criminal damage and having an offensive weapon at an earlier hearing. He was sentenced to 10 months in jail, suspended for a year, with a nine-month supervision order and ordered to observe a three-month curfew.
