AN OXFORD university lecturer found dead in mysterious circumstances died from head injuries, a post mortem examination has revealed.

The body of Gudrun Loftus, 52, was found in St John’s College, St Giles, with serious injuries on Tuesday morning.

She was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after 10am.

A post mortem examination was completed earlier today.

Thames Valley Police spokesman Adam Fisher said it revealed “Mrs Loftus died from head injuries and multiple injuries consistent with a fall”.

Police are treating the death as unexplained.

Mrs Loftus was a university language instructor in German and a lecturer at St John’s College. She covered the language part of the course rather than literature.

In 2007, Mrs Loftus, from Buckinghamshire, received a University Teaching Award for excellence in undergraduate teaching.
