This was always going to be a tough game, as both Botley and Abingdon were evenly matched and both looking for there first win. Botley took the lead with a penalty from Daniel Wilcox. Abingdon quickly replied with a great goal from Kieran Brown. Abingdon applied the pressure and took the lead with a goal from Jack Dixey. Botley replied with a great cross from George Edwards being hit home by Robert Short. Botley with the bit between there teeth, saw a corner from Ryan Megarity find Daniel Wegrzyk who hit the roof of the net for Botley to take the lead. Abingdon undeterred and in the dying minutes of the first half won a corner which was well taken by Kieran Brown and saw Adam Taylor pull the score level with a terrific first time volley. Half time saw the score 3-3, a great first half from both teams. The second half downhill and the wind behind them saw Botley take the game to Abingdon, and quickly scoring through Hamayun Baig. A goal mouth scramble saw Baig score his second on his debut for Botley, bring the score to 5-3. Botley were awarded another penalty which produced a great save from the Abingdon keeper. Botley eager to score more goals saw Abingdon tighten there defence, however a great run from George Edwards down the left wing cutting into the 18 yard box, find the back of the net. Botley continued the pressure and with the game closing another great run from George Edwards secured his second goal and a 7-3 victory for Botley. A great performance from both teams, and all credit to Abingdon who never gave up.
