CINDERELLA began her preparations to go to the ball in Oxford this Christmas by picking out the perfect pumpkin to turn into her coach yesterday.

The lowly housemaid, played by Natalie Tulloch, escaped from her ugly sisters’ clutches to visit Bonner’s fruit and vegetable stall in the Covered Market.

Cinderalla is set to delight audiences at the Oxford Playhouse this Christmas.

The fairytale pantomime is being staged at the Beaumont Street theatre from Friday, December 3, until Sunday, January 16.

Playhouse director Michelle Dickson said: “It’s amazing. Panto is a brilliant British tradition and the Playhouse makes a classic family panto with lots of audience participation, cheering Cinders and the prince and booing the baddies.”

Panto expert and former Blue Peter TV presenter Peter Duncan is directing the theatre’s festive show for the fifth year running. He staged Jack and the Beanstalk last year.
