A man claiming to be from the 'Water Board' convinced an 86-year-old woman to let her into her home but did not steal anything.
He called at the address in Spareacre Lane, Eynsham at 7.20pm on Friday and said he needed to turn her water off.
She let him into the kitchen and as she was talking, she noticed a second man walk into her home.
She shouted at him and demanded to see some identification, but the man claimed it was in his van.
The pair left when she threatened to call police unless she saw some identification.
