Armed robbers brandishing what looked like a gun stormed a petrol station and demanded cash from the cashier.

They walked into the BP petrol station in Cherwell Drive, Marston about 6.10am this morning with what police believe was a gun and forced a staff member to hand over money before leaving the store.

The man carrying the gun was described as white, about 5ft 8ins, wearing a black jacket and had his face covered with a scarf.

The second man was also white, about 5ft 6ins and was also wearing a black jacket and had his face covered with a scarf.

Det Insp Steve Raffield said: β€œAt this time detectives are carrying out a door-to-door in the area, to see if anyone saw or heard anything and the neighbourhood policing team will be patrolling the area to offer reassurance to local residents.

β€œI would urge anyone who was in the Cherwell Drive area at any time around 6am this morning, who may have seen men matching this description or anything suspicious around the petrol station, to come forward and speak to us as soon as possible.”
