A PROUD great-grandmother and former dressmaker has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Olive Clinkard, from Cumnor, was surrounded by family and friends at her new home at Mayott House in Abingdon on Thursday to celebrate.
Mrs Clinkard said: “It’s all been really lovely, a whole crowd have been here all day and I’ve had some lovely flowers.”
The grandmother-of-three was born in London in 1911 and moved to Oxfordshire following her marriage to Lesley Clinkard in 1933.
They were happily married for 67 years, until his death 10 years ago. The couple have two daughters, Jane Corsar, 66, and Pauline Hooker, 72.
Mrs Clinkard worked as a dressmaker, creating outfits for debutant girls from a shop in High Street, Oxford.
Mrs Corsar said: “My mother looked gorgeous on her birthday. She always looks gorgeous.
“She has always been a wonderful mother and has always looked after people, even now.”
Mrs Clinkard, who has three great grandchildren, moved into the home 10 days ago and said she was settling in and felt very happy.
