A TOAST to Cowley Carnival will be made with the event’s very own beer.

Witney’s Wychwood Brewery has concocted CarnivAle in celebration of the long-running party, which will this year be held in South Park on July 3.

The 3.4-per-cent tipple – said to possess a “toffee-sweet and fruity finish” – will only be served from the brewer’s stand at the event.

Wychwood brand manager Alison Butler, pictured right with carnival organisers John Hole, Karen David and Simon Cooter, said: “It’s important for us to get involved and support local events such as Cowley Road Carnival, particularly as beer and the arts form such a great partnership.”

The celebrations kick off with Roots Manuva headlining Fiesta in the Park on July 2, to raise money to put the carnival back on Cowley Road next year. The carnival itself is the next day between 10.30am and 8pm, with the procession at noon. Admission is free.

John Hole, chairman of Cowley Road Works, the charity that organises the carnival, said: “We are very grateful to Wychwood Brewery for their support and look forward to raising a glass of CarnivAle.”
