Sir – You report major plans for the Clarendon Centre which have been submitted to the west area planning committee (Report, June 9).
Now, as it happens, I live in East Oxford, which comes within the west area. But if I lived in Headington or Rose Hill, I’m sure that I would feel equally interested in such an important change in a part of the city which is used by all of us.
It seems to me that everybody in Oxford ought to be represented when important decisions are made on the area inside the old city wall (and perhaps slightly beyond it).
It’s silly to claim that this is of more interest to somebody in Five Mile Drive than to somebody in Pullen’s Lane.
They might as well have made a division into north area and south area, with the city centre and Rose Hill in the south. It doesn’t make sense.
Roger Moreton, East Oxford
