VICTIMS of fatal road traffic accidents will be remembered in a multi-faith service organised by Thames Valley Police.

The service for bereaved families and friends of those who have died on the roads will be held at 3pm on Sunday November 20, at St Mary the Virgin Church in Thame.

The ceremony, which has taken place each year for the last five years, will be led by David Wilbraham, force chaplain of Thames Valley Police with the Act of Commemoration led by the Bishop of Reading, the Rt Revd Andrew Proud.

Police officers, firefighters, paramedics, ambulance technicians and hospital staff will also give readings and prayers from other religions Supt Chris Brown, head of the roads policing unit, said: “The Road Death Memorial Service is held on the third Sunday of November each year in recognition of the tragic loss of life on our roads as part of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.

“In 2010, 96 people were killed on the roads of Thames Valley and the effect of these collisions is felt by many hundreds of people.

“We aim to offer support to the families of those who have been killed and we organise this service to mark this very important day.”
