At last, a story about football that doesn’t involve racism or WAGs.
Indeed, it’s positively inspirational, and it’s all home-grown too.
The U’s are launching their very own mobile phone network with a whole slew of benefits and special promotions and are inviting fans to become ‘part of the OUFC Mobile family today’.
Now this isn’t an advertisement so we won’t billboard the initiative, but it is hugely impressively to see the club genuinely creating new and exciting streams of untapped revenue.
Which may all sound rather Wall Street but actually translates at grass roots level to a more financially stable and secure club.
This clearly can only be good for its players, and in turn the fans, who have long waited for OUFC to show off its monetary muscle in the giddy world of transfers and signings.
And bear in mind, the club is promising that 50 per cent of all profits from the network will be put back into the club itself, and so indirectly, the local community too.
Surely one of the few occasions in modern football where the real winners are the die-hard supporters...
