Budding chefs in Rose Hill have been cooking up a treat.
They have been taking part in the new Food 4 All scheme, which is run by two students at Oxford Brookes to get more people cooking from scratch.
Monika Kozlak, 27, from Risinghurst, runs the scheme with her friend Julia Hayes.
She said: “We found there is a lack of knowledge and cooking skills in the Rose Hill area where there is a lower income.
“Parents tend to buy takeaways and ready meals so we are trying to give them the skills to make a healthy meal.
“We have done a basic tomato sauce which is much cheaper than buying it.”
The free scheme, which takes place in Rose Hill Children’s Centre, has been supported by the Heyford Hill branch of Sainsbury’s, which donates ingredients.
So far the group of six sessions have been extremely popular, with the next group already fully booked and a third in the pipeline.
