A MAN who decided to dump unwanted household items instead of wait for the tip to open is almost £600 out of pocket.
Thomas Paris, of Parklands, Banbury, went to Alkerton tip to get rid of a chest of drawers, cardboard boxes, carpet and children’s clothing.
But the site was closed and the 28-year-old dumped the items in a field, off the A422 near Shenington, in August.
The landowner reported the flytip to Cherwell District Council and officers found evidence linking the incident with Paris.
Banbury magistrates fined Paris, who pleaded guilty, £200 with £150 court costs, a £15 victim surcharge, and the £227.36 it cost to remove the waste.
