A SUPERMARKET made sure a team of firefighters collected for Children in Need on full stomachs.

Usually Bicester firemen grab a sandwich or drink in between stints collecting money in Queens Avenue and St John’s Street.

But this year, Tesco’s community champion Sue Evans stepped in and spent the morning helping make bacon butties and cups of tea to keep the fire fighters going.

She spent more than six hours slaving over a hot stove cooking more than 40 bacon rolls and making hot drinks.

She said: “They just keep coming in – as one shift finishes another start.”

All ranks of Bicester firefighters take part in the street collection, including their boss Bob Lewis, who dressed as Pudsey the bear.
