A new tourism book which suggests something to do in the Vale of White Horse district for every week of the year will be on sale next month.

The 52 Things to Do book will be launched on Saturday, December 10, at 2pm at a temporary Blackwells book shop in Mill Street, Wantage.

Contributions came from residents who submitted photos, prose, poetry and artwork.

The book will be on sale at £9.99 in book stores across the Vale and also online.

Elaine Ware, cabinet member for economic development, said: “The 52 Things book does a fantastic job in highlighting what the Vale has to offer, both as a tourist location and as a place to live. We have many things to be proud of in this district and it is about time we showed them off in this way.”

Dawn Benson, local artist and member of the editorial team, said: “The Vale of White Horse is an area of outstanding natural beauty with many secret and wonderful places to visit and explore.

“Many of our towns and villages are steeped in history, with wonderful markets, individual shops and lots to do.

“This is an ideal gift for Christmas, a book to dip into and to treasure for any local or visitor to our wonderful part of England.”
