DOZENS of unique souvenir posters were handed out to Woody Allen fans at the closing night of the Oxford Film Festival.
In all, nearly 1,000 movie lovers attended this year’s week-long Woody Allen festival at the Phoenix Picture House in Walton Street, Oxford.
Even Peter Sloman, chief executive of Oxford City Council, got into the mood on the final sold-out night, donning a pair of special ‘Woody-Vision’ glasses, handed out to cinema goers in honour of the film maker’s own signature style spectacles.
Mr Sloman said: “Manhattan offered a fitting finale to the festival, being written by the greatest product of that city.”
Now in its sixth year, the festival which is co-sponsored by the Oxford Mail, attracted an audience from as far afield as London, Bath and, closer to home, High Wycombe and Reading.
Jeremy Smith, entertainments editor for the Oxford Mail, said: “There was a genuine party atmosphere to Friday’s final screening.
“The event was sold out within minutes and everyone was just determined to have a really great night. ”
