YOU report that the only advertising permitted by the Olympic organisers is that of the official sponsors (Thursday’s Oxford Mail), including McDonald’s, a significant part of whose business appears to be the sale of fatty foods, and Coca-Cola, a significant part of whose business appears to be the sale of sugary drinks.
This is not exactly the healthy sporting image I thought the Olympics were intended to promote – or is the intended message that customers may need sporting exercise afterwards to burn off the excess calories?
