A MAN has appeared in court charged with murdering a grandmother in Horspath.
Stewart Dale spoke only to give his date of birth and address and to confirm he understood proceedings at Oxford Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
He is accused of killing 55-year-old Jenny Hume, who was found dead in a caravan at Prospect Park at about 2am on Friday.
The mother of three and grandmother of three lived in Hamel Walk in central Oxford.
Dale, of Prospect Park, Horspath, made no bail application through his solicitor, Angela Porter, and the 27-year-old was remanded in custody to appear at Oxford Crown Court for a preliminary hearing this morning.
Chairman of magistrates Paul Keates said: “We cannot deal with this matter here. We are going to commit you to the crown court.
“You will attend there tomorrow for a preliminary hearing, do you understand?”
“Yes, sir,” replied Dale, who wore a suit and a white, open-neck shirt.
