Chiltern Railways is inviting passengers to have their say about plans to make major changes to its timetables in December.

The train operator aims to run more of its services, which link Banbury, Bicester North and Haddenham & Thame Parkway with London and Birmingham, at regular intervals throughout the day, to help passengers remember standard departure times for their trains.

Minor changes are planned for the Oxford-Islip-Bicester Town branch line.

The proposals also aim to make the best use of Chiltern’s train fleet, to provide more seats on the busiest rush-hour commuter services.

In addition, the revised timetables are structured to allow services on Chiltern’s proposed route between Oxford and London Marylebone, via Bicester, to be added to its operations from 2014 with minimal changes to timings.

The public inquiry into the plan for the Evergreen3 project, which includes a new connecting line in Bicester, resumes at Oxford’s Kassam Stadium on Monday. Transport Secretary Justine Greening has already indicated she is minded to give the go-ahead, subject to environmental and wildlife safeguards being put in place.

Passengers have until Friday, June 15, to give their views on the draft December timetables, which can be viewed online at chilternrailways.co.uk Comments can be emailed to timetableconsultation@chilternrailways.co.uk or posted to: Timetable Consultation, Chiltern Railways, Banbury ICC, Merton Street, Banbury, OX16 4RN.
