A PROFESSIONAL golfer from Bicester will take on a triathlon for Alzheimer’s research after losing his father to the disease.

Golf coach Andy Taylor’s father Alec died last July after a long battle with the illness.

The 47-year-old said his father used to take him and his brother to their local golf club when they were young and he had him to thank for his love of the game.

Andy will take part in the Blenheim Triathlon for the second year running, on Saturday, June 9, to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Mr Taylor said: “My dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in his late 70s and struggled with this devastating disease for eight years.”

He added: “It’s really good to know the money I raise will contribute to research for the new treatments and cure so urgently needed for Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.”
