A ROTARY Club initiative to check people’s blood pressure for free found 38 out of 75 people checked had above normal levels.
The Bicester club teamed up with the Stroke Association and health professionals to offer checks on April 28 and 29 at Wyevale Garden Centre, off Oxford Road, as part of a nationwide initiative to cut the number of strokes in the UK.
One of the club volunteers Jolanta Lis said: “I am very glad that so many people came forward. Nobody wants to hear they could be at risk of stroke but a lot can be done to minimise that risk.
“We were able to help provide advice and support on how they could reduce their risks.
“If this event saves just one life, then it has been very much worthwhile.”
