AS we have seen many tragic accidents that have occurred since the speed cameras were switched back on, I would suggest that Thames Valley Police and the council switch them back off again with immediate effect.

The police should go back to patrolling our roads to catch dangerous and drunken drivers.

The current policy of having four cars and a full complement of police in St Giles to prosecute people going over a ludicrously low speed limit does nothing to promote road safety, and only alienates otherwise law-abiding citizens.

As we will soon have an election for a police commissioner, perhaps Chief Constable Sara Thornton could tell us her policy for keeping our roads safe.
