A RASTAFARIAN cafe owner from East Oxford has narrowly avoided jail for attacking a customer with a hacksaw.
Hugh "Andy" Anderson, who runs the Hi-Lo Jamaican Eating House in Cowley Road, Oxford, was handed a suspended prison sentence this morning for the attack on social worker Sean Tizard.
Reading Crown Court heard the hacksaw-wielding pensioner was said to have to issued a "continual rain of blows" down on his victim on October 3, 2010.
Anderson, who says he is 73 years of age and not 63 as stated on court papers, was handed a 12 month jail sentence suspended for 18 months after being convicted of unlawful wounding last month.
He was also ordered to carry out 200 hours community work within the next two years and pay £1,000 pounds compensation to his victim.
