AN 83-year-old man was robbed in Headington of a bag containing church bank books.
George Lees was targeted at about 11.45am on Tuesday while he was at the cashier’s desk in the London Road Post Office.
A blue bag containing paying-in books for Stanton St John Church was snatched from him. Mr Lees told the Oxford Mail: “I was aggrieved and irritated. I did run after him but he was 50 years younger than me so he had a good start as well.”
The retired Stanton St John postmaster, who is a long-standing member of the congregation at St John the Baptist Church, said the bag contained no money.
The robber was white, aged 25-35, at least 5ft 10in tall, of large build, with short hair.
He was wearing a blue short sleeved T-shirt, light colour shorts and trainers.
Call Dc Emma O’Dell on 101.
