A KNIFEMAN on the run sparked a major police search in Berinsfield.
Officers were called to Colne Drive at around 11.30am on Saturday to reports of a man who had run out of a house with a kitchen knife.
The police helicopter was deployed to the South Oxfordshire village, as well as a number of patrol cars, and a search of the area was carried out.
About half an hour later a man was detained under the Mental Health Act.
Thames Valley Police inspector Chris Evans said no one was injured during the incident.
Ken Hall, chairman of the parish council, said: “I had no idea what had happened.
“Berinsfield is a very nice place to live.
“I would hate for anything to give the village a bad name.”
