Sir – In my letter about Siegbert Prawer (May 24) I stated that, apart from Adrian Tahourdin’s appreciation on the Times Literary Supplement website and a short article in The Oxford Times, no other appreciations of Professor Prawer’s life and work had appeared in the press.
Adrian Tahourdin has since alerted me to the striking obituary in The Times by Professor Jim Reed (April 17); and an online appreciation in Legenda News, with a link to Professor Prawer’s extraordinary farewell lecture, delivered at The Queen’s College last November, is/are also essential reading. My apologies to Prof Reed and to Legenda for having failed to track down their respective pieces before I put fingers to keyboard.
