AFTER seeing the photograph of the Triton fountain at the old Radcliffe Infirmary in the Oxford Mail, it took me back about 70 years to being just a kid, seven or eight years old. I lived in St John’s Road, Oxford.
A young girl named Polly went round to the hospital to see the fish in the pond under the fountain, we used to feed them. Of course, mucking about, I threw Polly’s shoe in the pond and did a runner and left her to get her shoe back. I thought it was fun!
I wonder if Polly is still around and can remember this. If so – love you Polly!
