CLASSIC American cars filled the grounds of Blenheim Palace for The Rally of the Giants.

More than 400 vehicles, including cars, trucks, military vehicles and bikes, from the 1920s onwards, turned out at the Woodstock stately home yesterday.

Buicks, Cadillacs, Chevrolets, Dodges, Fords and Hudsons were all on display at the UK’s largest classic American car show.

Dorchester-on-Thames resident Richard Pratt, his wife Caroline and his father John attended with their two classic 1950 Studebaker Champions.

Mr Pratt, 53, said: “It has been excellent. The weather has been kind and the turnout has been very good.

“Studebakers are cars of a period that had style, and they are cars you can drive and enjoy driving.

“There are lots of people here and we are all under the same influence – it is a bit like a drug.”

The family took along their 1950 Studebaker Champion Starlight coupe and a 1950 Studebaker Champion convertible.

It is the first year the Rally of the Giants has been held at Blenheim Palace, after the event was previously staged at Knebworth in Hertfordshire.
