Sir – With regard to the article by Andrew Ffrench in last week’s paper, I am glad to say that the Wolvercote Local History Society will be remembering the centenary of the Port Meadow air crash at noon on Monday, September 10.

With the agreement and support of Mr Paul Hornby, who featured in the article, the society will welcome anyone who is interested in commemorating this tragic event of 1912 in the car park near to Toll Bridge — now popularly known as Airmen’s Bridge. There will also be an exhibition of photographs and the history of the event will be told.

For more details and to request an invitation, contact numbers can be found on the Wolvercote website.
