CARE home residents were taken on a trip to a local craft workshop after they raised £454.10 to support the organisation.

Cumnor Hill House took a trip to the Abbey, Sutton Courtenay, the base of The Shed Oxford last week and learnt about some of the skills that are carried out there.

Shed Oxford consists of mostly retired people who get together a few times a week to participate in hobbies and crafts which usually results in products which are available to purchase in exchange for a donation.

Cumnor Hill House held a country and western afternoon with 120 guests with a live musical performances, line-dancing, face painting, side stalls and ride-on-rodeo to raise the money to support the group.

A cheque was presented on Tuesday and Kevin Reed, a local singer from Wheatley, played songs while guests and residents danced.

Shed Oxford secretary Linda Hill said: “This generous donation from Cumnor Hill House will be going towards buying a dust extractor for Shed Oxford so that the members can get busy and creative and stay safe with all the different machine tools in the Shed. It’s a great addition to our club.’’
