ART lovers from across Oxfordshire descended on North Hinksey for the first Oxford Art Fair.

The Fishes pub played host to a fair featuring 40 artists working in mediums as wide-ranging as photography and sculpture.

Sam Aspey, 70, from Farmoor, said: “It was very enjoyable seeing all the different techniques and quite interesting. There was one guy who was applying the oils onto the canvas using his fingers which surprised me.”

Vanessa Walters, from Bicester, displayed some of her abstract life drawings and oil on canvas paintings. The 18-year-old said: “It was a great opportunity for students in particular to showcase their work.”

The two-day art fair included live music, face painting, balloon artists as well as more than 100 different works of art.
