IT has been a season to savour for Oxford Hawks, with no fewer than six of their 14 senior teams winning their respective leagues.

The men’s 2nd, 3rd, 4ths and 6ths all claimed titles, while for the ladies, the 2nd team and the Harriers were crowned champions.

Goals from Simon Buckingham, Rich Jenkin and Dan Paynter secured Hawks 2nd a 3-1 win over Slough and the South League MBB&O Regional Division 1 title.

Hawks have won 19 of their 22 fixtures.

Oxford had a double header in MBBO Regional Division 1, going down 3-2 to PHC Chiswick and drawing 4-4 with local rivals Banbury.

Andy Wynd and Dan Smyth netted against Chiswick, while Alex Bull (2) and Andy Small (2) were on the mark on Sunday.

Witney went into their final MBB&O Regional 2 fixture knowing a win or draw at home to third- placed Newbury would secure promotion.

And they did not disappoint as goals from Tim Hardy (2) and Gareth Pritchard earned them a 3-1 triumph.

Pritchard finished neatly at the near post to put them ahead and Hardy converted a drag-flick for 2-0. Newbury clawed one back just before half-time to leave home fans feeling uneasy, but some excellent defending from the Witney back four settled their nerves.

Hardy’s reverse-stick strike from another short corner wrapped it up and Witney can still go up as champions if rivals Maidenhead fail to beat Wycombe this Saturday.
