CHIPPING Norton and Banbury proved the most successful clubs in Bicester’s ‘B’ team festival at Chesterton.

Both secured two titles, with Chippy winning the under 10 and under seven events, and Banbury collecting the under 11 and under nine crowns.

Hosts Bicester enjoyed success, winning the under eight category.

The winners and runners-up were presented with their trophies by London Wasps back-row forward Sam Jones. results Under 7: winners Chipping Norton; runners-up Banbury.

Under 8: Bicester; Buckingham Under 9: Banbury; Wallingford.

Under 10: Chipping Norton; Banbury B1.

Under 11: Banbury; Buckingham. Under 12: Buckingham; Banbury.

  • BANBURY missed out on the Oxfordshire Under 16 A League runners-up spot after losing 19-13 at Stratford-upon-Avon.

Tries from Tom Chiles and Sam Manning, plus a Manning penalty, had put Banbury 13-12 ahead, but they couldn’t hold on.

Banbury Under 12s reached the semi-finals of the Land Rover Cup at Saracens’ Allianz Park ground where they lost lost 15-0 to eventual winners Southend.

  • WITNEY will face Thanet in the National Under 17 Plate semi-final at Henley on Sunday (2.45).

Thanet overcame Fullerians 20-15 in their quarter-final to set up a clash with Witney.
