North Leigh halted a run of three successive defeats with a 2-1 win at Shortwood United in Division 1 South & West of the Evo-Stik Southern League, thanks to two Conor McDonagh goals.
The Millers dominated the first half, but could not break through.
McDonagh struck on 49 minutes when he cut inside to score, and the same player made it 2-0 when his header went in off a defender.
Jody Bevan pulled one back for the home side four minnutes from time.
Abingdon United held promotion-chasing Merthyr to a goalless draw despite having keeper James Foster sent off in the closing stages.
Ian Traylor hit the bar for the visitors with their best effort, while Carl Self and Luca Riccio went close for Abingdon. Foster saw red with Merthyr’s Aaron Cornwall after a melee.
