OXFORDSHIRE Under 17s are geared up for tomorrow’s ECB Royal London Cup final as they travel to Kibworth in Leicestershire to take on Cornwall (10.45am).

Oxon, who defeated Leicestershire by one run in a thrilling semi-final, are in good spirits as the county bid to emulate their 2014 trophy triumph.

Charlie Miller returns after missing the semi-final due to being on holiday.

But under 15 player Chapman, who took the first three Leicestershire wickets in an opening burst,is out with a back injury.

Head coach Darryl Woods said: “Cornwall are unbeaten this season, so will provide a very stern test

“But if our never-say-die attitude shines through, I am sure we will give ourselves every chance.

“We had a wonderful time two years ago, and to have another opportunity with a different set of players is just brilliant.”

l OXFORDSHIRE Under 14s cruised to a 88-run win over Dorset in their ECB County Cup match at Aston Rowant.

The hosts recovered from 77-4 to 291-7, thanks to wicketkeeper Dan Hall (68), Charlie Oakey (57no) and skipper William Woodley (40).

A spell of 2-19 from Ben Porter helped restrict Dorset to 203-6 in reply.

Oxon Under 15s lost by 29 runs to Norfolk in a friendly.

Chasing the home side’s 237-6 from 40 overs, Oxon replied with 208-7, Alex Chapman top-scoring with 65.

l LUCY Thomas starred with a brilliant century as Oxfordshire Girls Under 17s cruised to a 106-run victory over Leicestershire & Rutland at Oxford Downs.

Thomas hit 105 as Oxon made 206-9 from their 45 overs. Four bowlers took two wickets as the visitors were bowled out for 100.

Oxon Under 13s lost by 178 runs to Northants in their ECB League game.

In reply to Northants 227-4, Oxon were dismissed for 49.

l THE Oxfordshire Cricket Board are running a free ‘City Mela’ community event at Cowley Marsh Park tomorrow from 10am-4pm.

The day includes a tape-ball cricket tournament, street cricket for kids, food and drink stalls, raffles, face-painting and cricket equipment stalls.
