CHRIS Moore’s century proved in vain as Hook Norton moved top of Division 5, leapfrogging Combe after a four-wicket home victory.

The visitors batted first and set 225-6 as Moore made a superb 104 not out.

But in an excellent run-chase, veteran Melvyn Riley hit 56 and Adam Bennett and Jordan Glazier 38 apiece to steer Hooky home at 227-6.

Ducklington defeated visitors Radley by five wickets.

George Townsend claimed 4-45 in Radley’s total of 211-9, before Jacob Hughes struck 73 and Lloyd Lewis 57 not out to lead Ducklington to victory at 212-5.

Kennington put in a strong performance to beat hosts Britwell Salome by four wickets.

The home side set 212-5 in their 45 overs, Steve Strong top-scoring with 57.

But 79 from Duncan Robson and 44 not out from Russell Vircavs saw Kennington over the line at 213-6.

Peter McHenry’s five-wicket was in vain for Great Horwood 2nd as visitors Steventon ran out seven-run victors.

Mithun Sortur struck 55 out of Steventon’s 180 all out, McHenry taking 5-73.

But Phil Armstrong then claimed 4-40 for the visitors as Horwood were all out for 173.

Doug Holden claimed 7-46 for Wolvercote 2nd but finished on the losing side as visitors Hailey & West Witney cruised to a 121-run victory.

Cory Kearsley (65) and Andy Wood (59) helped Hailey to 223 all out, despite Holden’s excellent figures.

Wolvercote managed only 102 all out in reply, Martin Clutterbuck taking 3-40.

In Division 6, Alex Bowles struck magnificent 134 as Shrivenham brushed aside hosts Wootton & Boars Hill by 157 runs.

Shrivenham racked up 274-4 and then ran through Wootton for just 117 as Matt Haywood claimed 5-41.

Andrew Dean hit a ton to help Oxenford 2nd to a 107-run win at home to East & West Hendred 2nd.

Dean’s 111 was the main contribution in Oxenford’s 228-9.

Jason Fisher hit an unbeaten 57 in Hendred’s reply, but 5-31 from Kusal Lokuge ensured Oxenford claimed maximum points.

Middleton Cheney 2nd inflicted a second straight defeat on hosts Chesterton, running out five-wicket winners.

The home side reached 200-8 in their 45 overs, Pete Whitlock hitting 83 not out.

Andy Cross then hit 63 not out to steer Middleton to 204-5.

Tom Valentine had a fine all-round game for Kilkenny 2nd in their three-wicket win over visitors Stanton Harcourt.

He took 3-31 in Stanton’s 167 all out, and then top-scored with 87 as Kilkenny reached 169-7 for victory.

Division 7 leaders Yarnton & Cowley 2nd edged to an exciting eight-run victory against visitors Eynsham 2nd.

They were bowled out for 193, Stephen Cooper taking 3-26.

Adnan Khan then claimed 5-47 which helped to restrict Eynsham to 185-7, despite Roland Margerison’s 77.

Four wickets apiece for Graeme Woodward and Andy Purdie saw Witney Swifts 2nd to a 21-run win at Stonesfield 2nd.

Swifts set 162-9, Tom Davies top-scoring with 33.

Woodward then took 4-30 and Purdie 4-46 as Stonesfield fell to 141 all out.

Charlbury 3rd racked up a massive 301 all out in a crushing 224-run win over visitors Kidlington 3rd to stay top of Division 8 North.

Alex Bush (59) top-scored for Charlbury, who then ran through Kidlington for just 77, Vicky Strode taking 5-16 and Kieran Reynolds 4-26.

Hook Norton 2nd eased past hosts Deddington 2nd by six wickets.

John Weaver (4-51) was the pick of the Hooky attack as Deddington set 195-8, Niall Murphy hitting 77 and George Welch 53.

Clive Plant (69) and Jason Davis (58no) then shone with the bat to lead Hook Norton to 198-4.

Division 8 South leaders Chalgrove were too strong for hosts Watlington 2nd, winning by 83 runs.

Matthew Skilleter struck 64 in Chalgrove’s 247 all out, Chris Little taking 4-49.

Mark Taylor hit 92 not out in Watlington’s reply, but they were held to 164-6, Richard Murphy claiming 3-43.

Dorchester 2nd beat visitors Steventon 2nd by five wickets.

George Dugdale claimed 4-27 in Steventon’s 153 all out, Joe Bennett hitting 57 not out and Dave Webb 56.

Chris Rudling (48) and Mike Ottrey (46) then combined to lead Dorchester to 154-5.

Altaf Ali’s 5-45 was in vain for Kennington 2nd, who lost by 13 runs at home to Sunningwell.

Ali took 5-45, but Sunningwell reached 181 all out, Colin Thorpe top-scoring with 67.

Mark Trafford scored 79 in Kennington’s reply, but they were all out for 168.
