OXFORDSHIRE’S season ended on a flat note when they lost in the semi-finals of the Cricket Festival T20 competition at Wormsley.
The young Oxon side lost by 53 runs to Buckinghamshire in the event between four Minor Counties sides.
After winning the toss and inviting Bucks to bat, Oxon started well by reducing their opponents to 17-3, with Leo Bethell and Brad Taylor putting in tidy spells.
But an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 120 off 70 balls between Garry Park (74no) and Shelvin Gumbs (43no) sped Bucks to 137-3 from their 15 overs.
Jonny Cater’s side never got close, being limited to 84-6 by a tight bowling display.
In the final, Bucks won by six wickets against Cambridgeshire, who had defeated Hertfordshire in the other semi-final.
