Hannah England claimed an encouraging fourth place in the women's 1500m at the Norwich Union World Trials and UK Championships at the Manchester Regional Arena on Saturday.
The Oxford athlete came home in 4mins 12.78secs, but just missed out on the medals.
Hattie Dean, who was having a break from her usual 3000m steeplechase, came ninth in 4.17.53.
England had earlier finished third in her qualifying heat in 4.15.56, while Dean, who hails from Radley, came home fifth in the same race in a personal best of 4.16.57.
Witney's Clair Triggs failed to qualify for the 400m final, finishing fifth in her heat in 56.00secs.
Banbury's Perris Wilkins came sixth in the men's discus, recording a best throw of 52.25m.
