CHINNOR have made their first two summer signings with Caolan Ryan and Tom Burns joining the club.

Both players have moved to the National League 1 side from Rotherham Titans, who were relegated from the Greene King IPA Championship.

Fly half Ryan began his career in the Worcester Warriors Academy, before playing for Moseley, Coventry and Darlington Mowden Park.

Director of rugby Matt Williams says he is delighted to find a replacement for Jonny Bentley, who left the club last month.

He said: “Filling Jonny’s boots was always going to be a tough ask and, add the pressure of a new league, we needed the right man to guide the ship.

“In Caolan, I believe we have that.

“In a team low on confidence Caolan had some great performances and came to me highly recommended by several Championship coaches.

“He had the opportunity to stay pro, but with a year to go on his degree decided we were the right fit.

“I am excited to see what he can do in the Black and White.”

No8 Burns returns to Chinnor after a season away.

He said: “I had the opportunity to stay at Titans but if I was to consider playing in National 1 it was only ever going to be for Chinnor.

“After a tough season it is exciting to be back, and in a new league.”

South West 1 East club Banbury have also been busy recruiting.

Forwards George Bentley, Ben Dickson and Ed Berridge, as well as backs Saope Soko, Josh Harris and Justin Parker, have signed for the Bulls.
