IN a thrilling climax, TJ’s clinched the Cowley Workers ODDA Men’s Summer League crown by a single point.

They went into their final Premier & Section 1 contest of the campaign level on points with Croft Bar.

Visiting the Prince of Wales A, TJ’s stormed into a 6-0 lead with a clean sweep of the pairs, which were played first, followed by singles wins from Geordie Grant (180) Michael Oliver and Aaran Stevens.

The home side pulled one game back through Richard Reveley, but further successes from Terry Wood and Jon Jukes saw TJ’s to a staggering 8-1 success.

Croft, meanwhile, trailed defending champions Bicester Ex-Services Club 2-1 after the pairs, before storming back to win all the singles games for a 7-2 success.

However, that left them just a point behind TJs after the closest ever title race.

Florence Park Community Centre A landed their third successive Ladies’ Premier Section title after scoring a 9-0 win over TJ’s Club A

They were pushed all the way by Kidlington Green Social Club, whose 7-2 win at Ampleforth Arms A left them just two points adrift.

Florence Park’s B team are the Section 1 champions, while Original Swan beat Cowley Workers Club 6-3 to take the Division 4 title.
