ED Phillips’ superb start to the season helped him top the charts for September.

The Oxford Mail have been compiling statistics over the first month of the 2018/19 campaign from clubs who submit match reports and can reveal the top-three for overall points, tries scored and points kicked.

Banbury’s Phillips contributed 44 in the first three weeks and, despite a quiet end to the month, convincingly claimed top spot for September.

The scrum half scored four tries, kicked 14 conversions and slotted one penalty in South West 1 East to rack up 51 points overall.

Connor Hull has been a regular point scorer for Grove in Southern Counties South and is second with 36, with Dan Brady just one behind.

The Banbury winger ended September on the treatment table, but he crossed seven times in the first three weeks to top the try-scoring charts.

Oxford Harlequins No 8 Fotu Latu is one behind in second, with a host of players queuing up on four.

Wallingford have made a fine start in Southern Counties North, winning all three of their matches, and Jack Edwards is September’s kicking king with 33 having slotted six conversions and seven penalties.

Chinnor fly half Caolan Ryan is just a point behind despite only playing two games in National League 1 after being out for three weeks with a hand injury.
