BANBURY’S Ed Phillips continues to top the points-scoring charts after the first couple of months of the 2018/19 season.

The Oxford Mail have been compiling league statistics from clubs who submit match reports and can reveal the top-three for overall points, tries scored and points kicked.

Despite missing a match, scrum-half Phillips scored a try and kicked 26 points in October to move to 82 overall.

He has a lead of 15 over Chinnor fly-half Caolan Ryan, who was last month’s star man.

It’s a case of roles reversed in the kicking king rankings, with the National League 1 half-back leading the way with 67 from Phillips and Oxford Harlequins’ Rory Garrett.

Abingdon’s Lewis Stacey and Harwell’s James Hoskyns-Jones both crossed five times last month to share the try-scoring honours in October.

And there is a tie in the overall standings with Banbury’s Dan Brady, despite not playing since the end of September, and Quins’ Toni Turetta leading the way on seven.
