OXFORD RFC are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their memorable match against Bath with a reunion lunch on Saturday.
The side faced the mighty Blue, Black and Whites at the Recreation Ground in the third round of the Pilkington Cup in January 1989.
Bath cruised to an 82-9 victory over Oxford, who had qualified to play in the national competition after being crowned county champions.
They progressed to the third round, thanks to wins over Tabard (Hertfordshire) and Barking (Essex).
While Oxford were comprehensively beaten at The Rec, the side avoided the biggest losing margin in the history of the cup.
Steve Lazenby, who scored Oxford’s solitary try, will be in attendance for this weekend’s Berks, Bucks &
Oxon Premier match against Risborough, as will Andy Tiplady, who kicked the conversion and a penalty.
