SUNDERLAND’S new £4million signing Will Grigg is in line to make his debut at Oxford United tomorrow.

The striker, who joined from Wigan Athletic on deadline day, has not played for three weeks due to an ankle injury.

But Grigg returned to training on Tuesday and will travel south today.

Black Cats boss Jack Ross said: “You look at goals to games ratio and Will’s track record in this league is as good as anybody’s.

“Unless there is any adverse reaction then general fitness-wise he’s fine.

“In terms of the injury, he’s all good to go at the moment.”

Grigg netted four times against the U’s for Wigan last season – a hat-trick at the Kassam Stadium in the 7-0 defeat, plus the only goal of the game in the reverse fixture.

Robinson was in charge for the latter, but needed no introduction after signing Grigg on loan while at Milton Keynes Dons.

“He’s someone I wanted to bring in during the summer,” Robinson said.

“It wasn’t something that could materialise, but he’s a top striker and is someone who you know will always score goals at this level.

“Unfortunately.”
