OXFORD United will face a Peterborough United side fired-up with plenty to prove tomorrow.

Last weekend the Posh lost 3-1 at Doncaster Rovers, who took their place in the Sky Bet League One play-off places.

It included a controversial third goal, where Rovers played on from a throw-in after Peterborough goalkeeper Conor O’Malley had rolled the ball out, mistakenly thinking a teammate needed on-field treatment.

Boss Darren Ferguson told the Peterborough Telegraph: “It’s gone now and we are all determined to use what happened as motivation for the rest of the season.

“We had a very productive meeting on Monday when we agreed to use the manner of the defeat to our advantage.”

The defeat continued a poor run for Posh, who have won only two of their last dozen league games – a run which started with a 2-2 draw against the U’s in December.

It saw Ferguson replace Steve Evans last month.

The Scot, now in his third Posh stint, said: “Dropping out of the top six is not ideal, but there will be many twists and turns between now and May.”

With Doncaster in FA Cup action, Posh can close the gap to a point with victory against the U’s.
