MARTIN Shepherd remains in contention for a fifth singles crown in the Oxfordshire Indoor Bowls Association Championships.

The Chipping Norton bowler will take on county newcomer Stuart Thomas at his home club of Banbury Cross in the last four, with last year’s runner-up David Leighfield (Chipping Norton) facing Carterton’s Tim Jupp in the other semi-final clash.

In the pairs event, Carterton’s Bradley Squires and Andy McIntyre have secured a final berth, where they will take on either Mark Charlett and Sam Watts or Jupp and Joe Justin.

Carterton have three of the four semi-finalists in the triples, while in the fours there is a possibility of an all-City & County final with the club having a rink in each semi-final.

In the Over 60s competitions, the singles final will be between John Cox (Chipping Norton) and Othman Sharif (City & County).

Cox has also made it through to the pairs semi-final, where he and John Benfield face Paul Norris and Roger Thomas.

The other semi-final pits Jupp and Andy Wise against Chipping Norton’s Percy Hickman and John Hurren.

  • JONATHAN Dadson is into the final stages of the National Under 18 Championships.

The Oxford City & County member will go for singles glory at Church Gresley Indoor Bowls Club, Derbyshire on March 17.
