JORDAN Graham is more than happy to be in the bad books with his family if it means helping Oxford United move further clear of the drop zone.

The U’s head to in-form Coventry City tomorrow, bidding to record back-to-back Sky Bet League One victories for only the second time this season.

With 13 teams involved in the relegation battle, United, who sit a point above the bottom four, know stringing a run of results together is vital.

Tomorrow’s game will be a special occasion for Graham, who grew up in Coventry and will have friends and family watching on from the stands.

But the 24-year-old is determined to make sure he is the one celebrating at the full-time whistle.

“Almost everyone on my mum’s side is a Coventry City fan and a lot of my mates are supporters as well,” said the winger.

“They will all be there, so I will be trying my extra extra hardest to score and celebrate where they’re sitting.

“I’m not interested in that (upsetting my family), it doesn’t bother me at all.

“I don’t really support Coventry, I never have, and I’m here to do a job for Oxford which is what I care a lot about right now.

“Anything I can do to help – whether it’s a goal, assist, a good performance, just to help us get out of the position we’re in at the moment and push up the table is all that’s on my mind.”

United have picked up ten points from their last five games, while last Saturday’s dramatic injury-time win over Bradford City helped them climb out of the drop zone.

Graham knows the importance of building on that victory and, with 12th-placed Plymouth Argyle only two points better off, it is a chance to climb the table.

But the Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee knows it will be a tough afternoon against a Coventry side pushing for the play-offs following a superb run of five wins from seven games.

He said: “It’s really big for us, we’re excited.

“We have momentum coming off the back of the way we won on Saturday.

“But they’re doing really well at the moment, they’ve hit some good form.

“We know it’s not going to be an easy game, but we’re really positive and we just want to go out there and show what we’re capable of.”
